1969 Gallery is pleased to present A Benefit Exhibition for Los Angeles, a show whose proceeds will be donated to Grief and Hope—an organization dedicated to providing LA’s artists and creative professionals with crucial assistance during this period of recovery.

In the early winter of 2024, LA was devastated by a series of wildfires sweeping across Southern California. Many were left without their homes, studios, years of archived work, and personal possessions. In the aftermath of these tragic events, the art world has shown a fierce dedication to supporting their peers in Los Angeles.

This exhibit threads six artists together who evoke ideas of hope, resilience, and unification. In its inclusion of both intimate depictions of the figure and immense natural landscapes, the importance of the mutualistic relationship between human and environment is reinforced. The works on not only serve as a testament to the strength of community, but also art’s ability to heal in difficult times.

By participating in this exhibition, artists, collectors, and patrons have the opportunity to directly contribute and support to LA artists affected by wildfires, and the  broader creative ecosystem of Southern California, fostering renewal and solidarity in a time of profound need.
